Carlos Rodriguez, DO, MBA, FACS, founder of RC Surgical Consulting Built by a practicing acute care surgeon Carlos Rodriguez, DO, MBA, FACS · Fort Worth, Texas

Your patients read your website before they meet you. A physician should write it.

Condition pages written in your words and checked by a practicing surgeon, then built into a website, a phone app you hand patients in the exam room, and a flyer they scan on the way out.

A written review within two business days. Yours to keep.

The problem

Most practice websites are written by people who have never seen the operation.

Agency writers work from other websites. Every operation is “minimally invasive,” every recovery is “quick,” and nothing tells a patient what the first night home is like. Patients arrive with the wrong questions, and the visit goes to correcting the page.

Typical agency copy (an example written for this page)

Gallbladder disease is a common condition that can cause discomfort. Our experienced, board-certified team offers state-of-the-art, minimally invasive treatment options tailored to your individual needs, so you can get back to living your best life.

Written by the surgeon (DrCRodriguez.com/conditions/gallbladder)

Classic gallbladder pain (called biliary colic) shows up after a fatty meal. It's usually felt in the upper right part of your abdomen, and it can spread to your back or right shoulder blade. If a stone stays stuck, the gallbladder can become inflamed or infected (a condition called cholecystitis), or a stone can travel further and cause jaundice, a bile duct infection, or pancreatitis. Any of these need prompt medical attention.

How it works

Written in your words. Checked against the guidelines. Built for the exam room.

  1. Interview

A 45-minute recorded call. One question drives the content plan: what do you tell every patient that is not written down anywhere?

  2. Write

Pages drafted in your voice from your handouts and the interview. Each clinical statement is tied to a published guideline.

  3. Verify

You are responsible for the clinical content, so nothing goes live until you have read each page and signed off.

  4. Hand off

Website, Handoff pocket app, exam-room QR flyer and analytics. Domain and hosting are in your name from day one.

Questions

What physicians and program leaders ask first

I already pay an agency. Why would I switch?

You may not need to. If your site is worth keeping, the written evaluation says so and quotes a refresh, and your site and hosting stay where they are.

I am not a surgeon. Can you review my page?

Yes, every specialty. You know your society’s guidelines. The review checks that each clinical statement points to one, marks what a patient would misread, and notes what you say in clinic that the page leaves out.

Who is responsible for the clinical content?

You are, and you approve it. Every clinical statement is tied to a published source, and nothing goes live until you have read the page and signed off.

How much of my time does this take?

Most of your time goes to checking that your content is presented correctly. You are responsible for the clinical content. Proofing time depends on the size of the build: a couple of hours at night with a Word document open next to your site, making comments, lets me make your changes without difficulty. A few hours up front will save you time in the future.

Explain it once. Your website explains it every time after.

Do I own the site if we part ways?

Yes. Domain, hosting, analytics and search console are in your name from day one. The finished site is yours on payment in full, with no buyout and no export fee.

Are you affiliated with the American College of Surgeons, and can you guarantee verification?

No to both. RC Surgical Consulting has no ACS affiliation, and no consultant can guarantee a verification outcome. The work is program-level readiness: gap analysis, PI infrastructure and data capture.

You still operate full time. Will my project get attention?

Yes. RC takes on one new project at a time, and time for your project is built into the schedule.

Do you handle patient information?

No. RC Surgical Consulting takes on no work involving protected health information.
